The story of  Thimbleweed Park for macOS is focusing on FBI agents Ray and Reyes who arrived at the town of Thimbleweed Park for investigating a murder. After a while, their investigation leads them to a number of persons of interest. Those are: Chuck, Ransome the Clown, Delores and Delores’s downtrodden father Franklin. First one, Chuck is the owner of the PillowTronics robotics company who recently died. Ransome the Clown was cursed to have his makeup forever because of his insulting performances. About Delores we can say that he was a computer programmers and niece of Chuck.

When Franklin tries to pitch his business ideas to Chuck, he is murdered at the town hotel and unexpectedly becomes a ghost. Delores is the one who discovers that Chuck written her out of his wish, mad of her decision to pursue a career in video games. Ray and Reyes collect blood samples, fingerprints and other evidence so they are able to arrest vagrant Willie. They both leave the town but return after a while incognito for pursuing other agendas. Ray task is to uncover stealing computers secrets and Reyes wants to clear his father of provoking the fire that damaged the PillowTronics factory. You have to admit that Thimbleweed Park for macOS has a pretty interesting story.

The game is played from a third person perspective, having the view of the area owning the majority of the screen. The bottom portion is taken up by your inventory and also a list of verbs. If you click on the verbs followed by one or even two items of characters, you will attempt to perform the action described.  When you start playing Thimbleweed Park for macOS, you are allowed to select difficulty level. So it’s up to you if you want a much simpler game or you want to try a challenging level.
